University of Agder – Center for Entrepreneurship

Established in 2005, the UiA Center for Entrepreneurship has served as the backbone of Entrepreneurship education and research at the University of Agder in Norway.

Its goals are to stimulate entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial skills among those educated at the University of Agder, conduct world class entrepreneurship research, and support the entrepreneurial eco-system at the local, regional, national and international levels.

Today, the center is responsible for training close to 350 Norwegian and international students annually through its rich portfolio of entrepreneurial education programs at the bachelor, masters and PhD levels. These include the Grunder Lab and Internationalization Lab flagship programs in partnership with Innovation Norway.

Moreover, as per 2014, the center has processed over 300 entrepreneurial projects and business plans, 170 of which in collaboration with real ventures and entrepreneurs.

Working tightly with dozens of more and less struggling entrepreneurs every year, it was made clear that more action was needed for creating alternative sources of early seed funding for early stage ventures. Identifying Crowdfunding as one potential and critical remedy for such challenges, the Center of Entrepreneurship took the initiative of building a Nordic consortium for the promotion of crowdfunding in the Nordics, and the build-up of a thriving Nordic crowdfunding community.
